Rooted in explorations of postcolonial identity, cultural memory, and generational legacy, this first installment offers a thoughtful immersion into our evolving creative landscape.
In a few months, the journey continues with Part Two: Egwu Ndi Eze — Dance of the Kings, a kinetic celebration that will embody the spirit and ancestral echoes woven through the narrative.

FESTAC BABY is a powerful and poignant play that explores themes of identity, cultural heritage, sacrifice and the resilience of the human spirit. Set against the backdrop of the iconic Festac '77 festival in Nigeria, the story follows a young family as they battle their beliefs as they await the birth of their child. With rich layers of history, love, and patience, FESTAC BABY highlights the profound connections between family, tradition, and the significance of cultural events that shape individual and collective identities. This thought-provoking drama invites audiences to reflect on the past while contemplating their roles in shaping the future.

Kayla Ayler-McCormick as Mama Adesuwa. Kayla Ayler-McCormick is a Los Angeles-based actor and SAG-AFTRA member. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Kayla found her way into acting through community theater and New York-based acting schools. After graduating high school, Kayla moved to Los Angeles to pursue her passion for acting and obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the California Institute of the Arts in May 2024. Kayla is excited to perform as Mama Adesuwa in Weruché Uzoka's play "Festac Baby".
Chimele George as Papa Adesuwa. Chimele, a versatile actor with experience across television, film, stage, and hosting, was born in Kaduna, Nigeria. His most recognizable performances include commercials for Bosley, Mixtiles, Broadcom, Coach Up, and Rise of Kingdoms, as well as industrials for Bloom. On screen, he has appeared in acclaimed productions such as House of Cards, The Invasion, Copycat Killers, Send Help, Second Chance, and Insecure, in addition to a range of independent films. Chimele is known for his ability to embody a wide range of characters, bringing authenticity and dedication to every role. He is thrilled to be part of the FESTAC BABY ensemble, contributing his talent to a story that celebrates heritage, identity, and the power of connection.
Adan Junior Tchamabe Tchouga as "Baba Kunle." Meet Adan, a passionate and determined French-speaking actor from Cameroon who has been steadily carving his path in the entertainment industry for the past 10 years. His journey began in 2015 on the radio waves of Douala, where his voice first found an audience. By 2020, he was hosting his very own TV show—proof that dreaming big and pushing boundaries was simply part of who he is. In 2021, Adan took a leap of faith and started over in California. The past three years have been a whirlwind of growth and hustle, landing background roles in over 15 major productions including All American, Bel-Air, Shifting Gears, and 9-1-1. One unforgettable moment? Sharing the stage with none other than Angela Bassett—a dream come true for any actor. Adan is now searching for that breakthrough project—the one that will introduce his talent to the world. But beyond the spotlight, his true purpose is clear: to inspire the next generation. Every role he plays is a step toward showing others that bold dreams, no matter where they begin, are worth chasing.
Nneka as Kate. Nneka is an actress and like most Nigerians, a storyteller. After earning a BA in Theatre Performance and frequenting various studios in Los Angeles training in Shakespeare, Meisner, Commedia, and more, she has performed on stage/on camera in Los Angeles, New York, and Texas over the years. Her recent stage credits include Olivia in Twelfth Night with Shakespeare By The Sea (SoCal tour), Twelfth Night with Actors Co Op, Clybourne Park and Circle of Death at the Luckman, and lead in a few new works festivals. You can also see her in Plan B on Hulu. Along with acting, Nneka has worn several hats for her own work, specifically in writing, directing, and producing pilots, shorts, and web series. Sean Davis as Prof. Ugonna. Sean Davis is an actor who hails from the city of Detroit in Michigan. He has experience in commercial theatrical, as well as stage acting. His love for acting has brought him to the city of Los Angeles, California, where he is not only pursuing a career in the theatrical arts, but also fashion and modeling. His goal is to combine both passions - for fashion and film, to make art, blending both genres. His decades of training and experience have made him comfortable in many situations, as well as given him the ability to give truth to every character that he portrays.

Weruché Uzoka -
Weruché is a playwright, poet, and cultural storyteller whose work bridges the worlds of heritage, resilience, and imagination. Born in Lagos, Nigeria and deeply influenced by the global African experience, she crafts narratives that explore identity, memory, and the human spirit.
Weruché is the founder of WIIN Productions, an arts and culture platform dedicated to uplifting diverse voices through theater, storytelling, and immersive experiences. Her latest project, Festac Baby, draws inspiration from the historic FESTAC '77 festival, celebrating African creativity and unity. With a background in journalism, human rights advocacy, and creative writing, Weruché’s work is known for its emotional depth, vibrant imagery, and commitment to community empowerment.
She has an MSc from Quinnipiac University, and an MA from Columbia University in the City of New York.
